The course is delivered over two days, with particular attention given throughout the course to applying the information to sports specific scenarios. The course incorporates actual real life examples and experiences. Discussion and questions are encouraged throughout the two days, and inclusion of the tutor's and students' own experiences adds to the learning experience.
Legal role and responsibilities of a First Aider, first aid cover for sporting events,
pre-event planning, first aid facilities and telephoning for help.
Incident assessment (DRSABC), basic life support (resuscitation as per
the Interventions Resuscitation Council UK 2006 Guidelines.
The unconscious casualty (AVPU), the recovery position, vomiting,
choking and heart attack.

Final assessment includes a multiple choice exam and a practical scenario based assessment that includes resuscitation skills. On completing the course and passing the assessment a certificate from the NSFA is awarded and lasts for two years.
